Wonder Valley, a week of a lifetime! Every year, 6th graders go on an outdoor adventure to Wonder Valley where students spend a week away from their homes with their classmates and teachers. Located in Sanger, California, the 6th grades set out on an unforgettable trip on October 1st and slowly ventured their way for five hours to this incredible camp. When the students and teachers arrived at River Way Ranch Camp, they were greeted with warm welcomes. The 6th grades met their assigned counselors, whom many of the students later bonded with. They also met their other cabin-mates and many students bonded and made friends with the people in their cabin. This Outdoor adventure is known for their exciting activities including leaping on trampolines, horseback riding, archery, kayaking, ziplining, a ropes course, and a trip to Kings Canyon National Park to see the giant sequoias. Kate Avila said, “I liked the horseback riding and tye-dying (t-shirts).” The students learn about the ecosystem, animals, and the nature surrounding us. One thing many students looked forwarded to on this trip (and were pleased about) was the food served. Each student sat with their counselors and cabin mates and dove into the delicious meals provided by the camp. Students choose their own food through a buffet-like arrangement. The 6th graders also learned chants, songs, and dances that they sung or laughed along to. The staff at the camps made each student feel like home and hopefully each 6th grader had a chance to bond with their classmates, teachers, and counselors. When the week ended and it was time to go home, the 6th graders reluctantly made their way to the buses and set out on the 5 hour journey home. “The counselors were a lot of fun and I made a lot of friends with the people in my cabin,” Benjamin Miller said.
