At Catalina, in camp Laguna, my best friend Kyle and I found a welcoming clean tent, it was perfect, but little did we know we weren’t the only ones in there.

My friend Kyle and I went through a normal day, then at night before lights out I noticed something crawling across the dusty, navy green wall. It was way oversized for an ant and too minute for a roach, that’s when  I realized there were earwigs. The only bug that actually freaks me out.

I swatted the earwig and fell asleep, when I awoke there were three more earwigs on the roof. Kyle helped me sweep them out of the tent. When we came back from breakfast there were more earwigs, So we decided to spray the tent with bug repellent. When we left for activities I told Kyle ¨There would probably be more when we come back.¨ When we got back to the tent THERE WERE MORE!

Then on the third day the earwigs stopped coming I was confused, but I realized¨ Hey, that’s actually good!¨Then I realized a yellow jacket was eating the earwigs. But the yellow jacket bit me so I swatted it and swept it out.

The rest of the week I didn’t see a single earwig until the last day. On Friday when I was changing I accidently bumped into the roof of the tent and it literally rained earwigs in the tent. All the earwigs fell onto the ground and onto the beds, I shrieked in horror and ran to get the broom.

I swept all of the earwigs and left, my bags packed and everything, we boarded the boat and left for good. Happily leaving all the earwigs.

When I got home I instantly put my clothes and bags in the washer and took a shower. When the washer finished 8 dead earwigs flopped out of my bag. Then I realized they started living in my bag and that’s why I stopped seeing them. I learned that just because it’s looks great for you it can also look like a great home for others too.
